# Booking a Bike Service: the App or the Website?

You can book a bicycle service two ways: on this website, or in the GOCYC app. They are not the same thing, and the difference is bigger than it looks. This page explains what each one actually does, so you can pick the right one.

## What happens when you book on the website

The website form shows a short list of standard times and takes your details. It does not check whether those times are free. It sends the team a request, and someone comes back to you to confirm a slot that works.

Nothing is paid and nothing is fixed until that conversation happens. It is a request, not a booking.

## What happens when you book in the app

The app asks the van. The times you see are the ones that van actually has free — so if it has closed Thursday afternoon, you are not offered Thursday afternoon.

You pick your times, describe the problem, and can attach photos of it. You pay there and then — card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The booking is created with an order number, and your van confirms which of your chosen times it is taking.

That is a booking, not a request.

## Do I have to pay before the service?

In the app, yes. The package price is charged when you book, not after the technician leaves.

Anything discovered during the job — a worn chain, a cable that needs replacing, a part you agree to — is charged separately afterwards, in the app, once you approve it. Listed package prices are a deposit; the final figure depends on the bicycle and the parts it needs.

## Which should I use?

Use the app if you want to choose your own time and have it settled in one go. Use the website if you would rather describe the job first and let someone come back to you — a complicated case, a fleet of bikes, an event, or anything that needs a conversation before a price.

For a standard service on a standard bike, the app finishes the job in one sitting.
