Booking a mobile service means trusting that someone will actually turn up, at your building, at the time you picked. This is what happens between paying and the technician riding your bike back to you, step by step.
Straight after you pay
You get a confirmation screen and an order number. The booking now exists as a record you can open from the Orders tab at any time, with your service, package, number of bikes and location on it. On iPhone you can add it to Apple Wallet.
Your van gets assigned
A van in your city picks up the job and confirms which of your chosen times it is coming at.
Your progress view moves from van is being assigned to van has been assigned, and then shows the date and time it will arrive.
On the day
The status moves to on the way, then arrived. On iPhone this runs as a Live Activity, so it sits on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island — you do not have to keep opening the app to see whether to go downstairs.
The work happens where the bike already is. You can watch it, which is worth doing: a chain measured in front of you, pads held up, rim wear pointed out. On any package above Wash & Lube the technician test-rides the bike before handing it back.
What if it needs more than the package covers?
Bikes hide things. A cable that turns out to be corroded, a chain past its wear limit, a bearing that is rougher than it looked.
Anything beyond the package is raised with you first and charged separately in the app once you agree. This is why the listed prices are described as a deposit — the package is the floor, and the final figure depends on the bicycle and the parts. You are told before the work is done, not after.
Afterwards
The order stays in your account with a proper tax invoice you can open as a PDF — useful if the bike is a company one or you are claiming it back.
You are prompted to rate the job — stars and a written review, against the van that did the work.
If your plans change
Cancel from the booking itself in the app. You do not need to ring anyone or catch someone during office hours, and the time goes back to the van for someone else.
If something goes wrong
The support thread in the app reaches the GOCYC team directly and keeps the history of the conversation attached to your account. That is a better route than email, because whoever picks it up can see your order.
